History
The Pacific Pension & Investment Institute (PPI), an educational nonprofit organization, was incorporated in 1998. However, the PPI Community regards its origins several years prior in the early 1990s, when founder H. Lawrence Hull, Jr., regularly hosted at his Agate Beach, Oregon home a small group of friends who were senior-level institutional investment peers. The group had a common mission, to deliver positive returns for their beneficiaries and stakeholders. They looked to each other and the experts they invited to join them to explore the opportunities emerging in the Asia-Pacific region.
Throughout the next several years as the membership grew and began taking shape as a global organization, PPI was steadfast in maintaining the spirit of community and a clear-eyed focus on the Pacific Rim. PPI members have continued to meet regularly for more than twenty-five years to gain a deeper understanding of the investment landscape and horizon.
Today, PPI membership is highly desired. Membership is intentionally limited to approximately 120 organizations worldwide. Similarly, PPI limits roundtable attendance to roughly 120 senior executives from among our institutional investor community and invited guests. Our world-class programs offer a forum for honest and confidential discussions on important themes and trends that affect asset allocation, risk management, and investment decisions.
