Shireen Muhiudeen

Shireen Muhiudeen is a senior investment professional, managing emerging market investments for over 35 years. She founded her South East Asian responsible asset manager firm Corston-Smith in 2004 and has had the support from a UK Based GBP58billion Pension Fund. Prior to Corston-Smith, Shireen was the Chief Executive Officer of AIG Investment Corporation (Malaysia). She was with the AIG Investment Corporation for 12 years.
Over her investment career and part of her belief of nation building, Shireen accepted the role as the first female Chairman of the Stock Exchange of Malaysia, and as an Executive Committee member of the Economic Action Council for Malaysia chaired by the Prime Minister.
She has served on the Federal Land Authority as Chair of Risk and Governance, as well as Chair of Investment. She served on the Labuan Offshore Financial Center, and as Chair of Risk for a Commercial Bank.
Shireen has been named on Forbes Asia’s 50 Power Businesswomen 2014 and as 25 Most Influential Women in Asia Pacific’s Asset Management Industry by Asian Investor in 2011. Corston-Smith led a ground breaking Diversity research project in 2011 with 3000+ data points showing a positive correlation between the number of women on corporate boards and financial indicators which Shireen presented at the World Bank/IFC General Meetings in Tokyo. APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) referenced this gender research in their papers.

Shireen currently serves as Deputy Chairman of the Asian International Arbitration Center (AIAC), as an independent director of Media Prima Bhd, and is a recipient of the 2024-2025 Hull Fellow of the Pacific Pension & Investment Institute (PPI).
