2023 Asia Pacific Roundtable
Welcome Letter
Dear Members and Distinguished Guests:
As we prepare to convene in Tokyo for the PPI Asia Pacific Roundtable later this month, it is with great anticipation and enthusiasm that I extend this warm welcome to each of you. After an extended hiatus due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are delighted to return to Tokyo, a city renowned for its rich history and forward-thinking spirit.
Tradition is a cornerstone of the Pacific Pension & Investment Institute (PPI), and it is in this spirit that we gather once again. We take pride in fostering an environment where exchanging ideas and insights knows no boundaries. This tradition of open dialogue, built upon our strict adherence to the Chatham House Rule, has been at the heart of PPI's success.
This year's agenda reflects the pressing issues that define our global landscape. We will delve into matters of national security, energy sustainability, and the demographic realities that shape economies across East Asia. These discussions are not merely academic exercises; they hold profound implications for institutional investors and the broader global community.
Our distinguished speakers and panelists, including academia, government, and private sector experts, will provide invaluable perspectives on these vital topics. Together, we will explore opportunities and challenges in areas such as renewable energy, private markets, and technology, seeking to navigate the uncertainties of our time.
I encourage you to actively participate in the sessions and engage in the informal networking opportunities that have become synonymous with PPI gatherings. Our commitment to a "no marketing" policy ensures that the focus remains on knowledge sharing and collaboration.
In closing, I express my sincere gratitude for your unwavering support of PPI. Your participation in this roundtable and dedication to our mission are the bedrock of our organization's success. I eagerly anticipate productive and insightful discussions as we come together in Tokyo.
Sincerely yours,
Lionel C. Johnson
President
